Season 6 will run from January through April, 2025. This season will feature a very exciting track space expansion of over 25% compared to our current arena. The oval classes will be reunited into one series and there will be two total points series/track types: Oval (running every other Tuesday), and Off-Road (running every other Friday). Both series will have 8 points rounds with TWO drops (your best 6 points results will be counted towards the championship standings).
The class rosters for both series will follow the design of what we’re doing at off-road events currently: 5 classes effectively acting as 3: Mini-Stock and Mini Turbo, Spec Slash and Super Ten, and a premier class (Spec Buggy for off-road and Supercar/Bandit for oval). An individual may only race in one mini class and one SCT class on a given night, and Spec Slash will only be open to racers who have never won an RC Sports class championship (Mini-Stock championship doesn’t count). Five classes is still a lot going on in a race night but with this format and the bigger track we should be able to fit it into our 3-hour program. If growth/turnout starts to threaten the “curfew” we may introduce a 2-class limit, but to start that shouldn’t be necessary.
This schedule represents a reduction in number of events and series compared to Season 5’s schedule design but should result in every event being a packed house. Having one event per week will also give me time to take care of my little ones and health to make sure this is a responsible and sustainable endeavor, and the off-Tuesdays will give us the opportunity to host regular practices and continue to upgrade and enhance the facility and equipment.
You will notice there is no dedicated on-road series this season: our past Seasons and polls have shown that interest in on-road racing lags far behind off-road and oval among our audience. However, we plan to incorporate occasional road courses into the oval series schedule much like the Nascar cup series does: our special crossover events last year (the Roval Rumble and the Tri-Oval challenge) were 2 of the top-three events in our history in terms of attendence so I do believe the interest is there for road course as a change of pace. The bigger track space we’ll be working with opens the door for many different modified oval variants as well that I’m excited to explore.
Class / rule changes will be very minimal for Season 6. The Spec Buggy class has some changes coming that will be the subject of their own post (current cars will remain legal, no changes are needed). But other than that, changes will be limited to gearing/power changes in the Mini Turbo and Bandit classes to make sure things stay balanced among the different vehicle options on the larger track. Specifics will depend on testing on the expanded track space so please stay tuned.
This info is subject to change but I wanted to get these plans and schedules out there ASAP so folks could mark their calendars and make plans to join us in the new year! I’m confident Season 6 will be our biggest and best yet, and I hope you will join us as there’s so much fun in store. Thank you everyone as always for your support and involvement in this community – let’s go racing!!
